Hair loss is prevalent as people become older. On the other hand, premature hair loss, can be caused by a number of reasons, such as hereditary, physical/mental health and medications/treatments. There are many reasons behind hair fall, but we will discuss on some of major hair fall reasons and solutions.

Causes

The following are some of the main causes of hair loss:

1. Hereditary

In Hereditary hair loss is caused by insufficient hair growth to replace lost hair, not by a great amount of hair falling out.  According to research, the androgen receptor gene is main cause of hereditary baldness. This gene is present on the X Chromosome, which is passed down from mother to son. As a result, the shape of your maternal grandfather’s head may indicate whether or not you may develop baldness in the future.

2. Hormones

DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) hormone is produced when a portion of testosterone is converted. DHT binds to receptors in hair follicles, which are important for the synthesis of hair fibers, leading them to constrict, generate thinner hair, and eventually die in persons who are prone to hair loss.

3. Stress

Continuous and excessive mental stress can have a negative impact on your health, resulting in a variety of physical issues, including hair loss. Because of the way hair grows, stress does not induce hair loss right away, but rather after a period of 2-4 months. Because the hair development cycle is disrupted. The nature of hair loss associated with stress is considerable daily hair fall.

4. Nutritional Deficiencies

Hair loss can occur if your diet is unbalanced. You are not getting all of the nutrients you need. The following nutrients are required for strong, healthy hair and the prevention of hair loss:

  1. Omega-3 fatty acids,
  2. Vitamins A, B-6, B-12, and C,
  3. Folic acid,
  4. Protein,
  5. Zinc

5. Medications / Medical Conditions

Medical illnesses such as thyroid (which is essentially a hormonal imbalance), lupus, or diabetes can cause hair fall. Some hypertension medications and statins (cholesterol-lowering drugs) can induce hair loss. Chemotherapy causes hair loss and, in some cases, total baldness.

Treatment

Hair loss can be caused by a variety of factors. The dermatologist treating it must determine the core reason of hair loss in the individual in order to provide the most effective treatment. Many elements are addressed before a treatment is provided or indicated. Including the method of hair loss (gradual or rapid), medication intake, if the person has any allergies, if the person is dieting or what are the dietary patterns, and so on.

Hair fall solution without a prescription:

  • Minoxidil (minoxidil): Minoxidil, which has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. Minoxidil is administered to the scalp and can prevent hair from becoming thinner while also stimulating hair growth. It’s the only hair regrowth product that’s suitable for both men and women.
  • Laser devices: Minoxidil, which has been approved by the US FDA, is administered to the scalp and can prevent hair from becoming thinner while also stimulating hair growth. It’s the only hair regrowth product that’s suitable for both men and women.

Hair fall treatment on the basis of a prescription:

  • Finasteride : Finasteride is a medication that prevents hair loss in most men. The US Food and Drug Administration has licenced this for the treatment of male hair loss. This has caused hair regrowth in roughly 66 percent of males and works by inhibiting the body from creating dihydrotestosterone, a male hormone.
  • Corticosteroid: This is a type of corticosteroid. If the hair loss is caused by inflammation in the body, this is injected into the affected person’s scalp. This aids in the reduction of inflammation that occurs in alopecia areata sufferers. An anabolic steroid is not the same as a corticosteroid.

Remedies

  • Hibiscus oil- Hibiscus is an excellent hair conditioner. If you suffer from hair loss, there’s a reason you should use hibiscus flowers. The flowers, which are high in vitamin C and amino acids, improve blood circulation under the scalp, promoting healthy hair growth. Heat 1–2 hibiscus blossoms and 2 hibiscus leaves in coconut oil (this quantity will only sufficient 1–2 times) for a short time (flame should be very low or don’t keep it directly on flame) Apply this oil before each hair wash and leave it on for at least an hour before washing it out.
  • Fenugreek paste- soak 1 spoon fenugreek overnight, then prepare a smooth paste with curd and apply to your hair for an hour.
  • Once a week, give yourself a hot oil massage using a blend of coconut oil and castor oil. After 30 minutes, wash it off with gentle shampoo (Personally I will suggest khadi shampoo).
  • Avoid putting shampoo on your hair directly. Pour half a mug of water into a mixing bowl, add the shampoo, dilute it, and then apply it to your hair.
  • Trim the ends of your hair every three months.
  • Use onion juice once a week.
  • Apply a monthly mask of natural aloevera gel, egg white, and banana. If you can’t find natural Aloe Vera, don’t use it.
