How to use IF function in Microsoft Excel

will learn how to use IF Function with examples.
What is If function?
Using if function returns with a result if condition met TRUE, or another value FALSE. We will also learn some advance uses of “If Function”.
Let’s see some basic uses:
Example 1 :
Sometimes, we have a list of students having marks of their exams and want to know result the list of passed student. In this condition this formula is very helpful.
- Type =if(select condition,”Pass”,”Fail)
Later using filter command we can list out passed or failed students.
Example 2 :
In another condition, where we are selecting students having marks above 50% and want to mark with “Selected” and lesser marks with “Not Selected”, we can do this too.
If, we go some more advance in this formula, and want to select a value if it is equal or less than a specific value, and want to replace greater value with a specific value
Example 3 :
Suppose, in the below given table we want to have a result, if amount is equal or less than 1800, should be placed, as it is, other wise it should be replaced with 1800.
